Falkirk - (An Eaglais Bhreac)
In 1298 the first of two battles were fought here.
The first was when William Wallace was defeated by Edward I and the second in 1746 when Bonnie Prince Charlie beat the English forces under General Hawley.
Falkirk has grown out of the iron industry which for over 200 hundred years the main works being that of the Carron Ironworks dating from 1760 and where the manufacture of cannons were made and used on many warships including The Victory, Nelson's flagship.
