URPoint Details
A lofty plateau, less rugged than Dartmoor part of the 265 square miles of National Park. The highest point is Dunkery Beacon rising to 1,707ft, a spectacular viewpoint, below which, to the north is the beautiful wooded Horner Valley, near Luccombe. There are some picturesque combes near the Bristol Channel coast, where the Lorna Doone country, including the Badgworthy and Doone Valleys, in the vicinity of Brendon and Oare. The river valleys of the Exe, Barle, and particularly the twin Lyn streams are very lovely.
