A pleasant village beside the River Rother with a fine church built by Sir William de Etchyngham in the 14th century, and just outside the village is Haremere Hall and early 17th century manor house open on some days in summer.
The parish Church of St Mary and St Nicholas is a fine example of a 14th century church in the Decorated style with large ornate windows, arches and doors.
