Emma, Lady Hamilton was born 26 April 1765 Neston. Mistress of Lord nelson, married to Sir William Hamilton. Her children were Horatia Nelson & Emma Carew. Sir William was smitten with Emma and, to Greville's shock, married her on 6 September 1791 at Saint Mary-le-bone, Middlesex, England; she was twenty-six and he was sixty. Marriage gave her the title Lady Hamilton. Emma spent a year in a virtual debtor's prison, in the company of Horatia, before moving to France to try to escape her creditors.

Turning to drink, living in poverty in Calais, she died in January 1815 (aged 49) Calais, France of liver failure.
