In a setting in the Lowland hills it is here that the river Clyde is born and the Elvan Water joins the Clyde. To the south the tiny Clydes Burn is joined by the streams of Daer Water and Potrail Water. To the northwest is Harryburn Bre at 1629ft, and to the east rises Harleburn Head at 1776ft and Clyde Law at 1789ft.
