St Peter's church on this site in Elmton since Saxon times and it is mentioned in the Domesday Book. There is one small step at the entrance to the church. There is an excellent 18th century carved pulpit and tester.
By the late 18th century St Peter's church had fallen into a very bad state repair and so the present building was completed in 1771. It is of an unusual design, with an interesting arch at the entrance to the sanctuary.
