The River Lossie almost circles this Royal Burgh of Elgin, the second largest town in the northeast with a wonderful cathedral known as the Lantern of the North many beautiful buildings, and the wing of the early 15th century Bishops Palace still stands.
The High Street has many fine buildings including Braco’s – a three storeyed house dating from 1694 and Gray’s Hospital with its octagonal based dome dates from 1815.
On Lady Hill are the remains of Elgin Castle
