An historic town by the River Thames famous as the scene for the signing of the Magna Carta.
Nearby is the Royal Holloway College and since 1890 part of the London University constructed between 1879 and 1886 and modelled on a chateau in France.
The Red Lion was a busy coaching in during the 18th and 19th century, with stabling for 70 horses and still has many relics from its past.
The parish Church St John the Baptist dates from the 17th century and stands on the site of an earlier Norman building.
It contains a fine Georgian pulpit and some sculptures.
