St George’s Church, 3m SE of Biggleswade off A1. (Historic Churches Trust). Limited opening.
During the Middle Ages, the church belonged to St Neot's Priory which may account for the high quality of much of the carving, in stone and wood. It was built around 1200, with aisles, chancel, tower, porches and clerestory added over the next two centuries. There is a rare pillar piscina dating from its foundation, traces of 14th century wall paintings, a decorated font and attractively carved choir stalls from the 15th century. There is also a quantity of medieval glass. An interesting and appealing church in a pretty and peaceful setting. Grade I listed building
