URPoint Details
St Mary’s Church which borders on the River Ouse, was almost completely destroyed by fire in 1930 and only the south arcades of five bays, the south clerestory and the west tower remain. The tower is high, with transomed two-light bell openings. The square font, of Purbeck marble, is Norman, and there is a large Flemish tapestry of the 17th century. There is a brass of a civilian and his wife dating from about 1450.
