URPoint Details
The site of the Church of St Denys standing on an ironstone bluff above the village is its chief attraction. It is built of the local ironstone. Iron ore was still quarried in the area until the middle of the twentieth century. The structure with its weather-worn tower and spire dates from the twelfth and fifteenth centuries. The author of Old Moore's Almanac once lived in a cottage on Main Street, and his gravestone can be seen in the churchyard.
The Church is open daily all year.
