URPoint Details
This is a delightful village in the Lambourn valley with the river running through and several houses reached only by little bridges. The church is, as in so many Berkshire villages, a Street design of the 1850s with a very fine window engraved by Lawrence Whistler. It has beautifully clear glass windows carrying pictures of the Lambourn valley. Nearby is the former school (now a dwelling house), which was also designed by Street. At the village ends are two notable old farmhouses - Manor farmhouse at the north west end, is mullion windowed of the l7th century and away to the south is Pigeon-house farmhouse, dated 1620 and famous for its large octagonal dovecote with 999 nesting holes.
