A charming mid-17th century West Yorkshire manor house built for the Clothier James Murgatroyd, who bought the estate in the 1630s. The Murgatroyds' fortunes declined during the later 17th century, and the Hall passed to the Starkie family, who rebuilt the north wing (only the facade still survives) and lived here for more than a hundred years.
