On the north side of Stokepark Wood is Eakley which was once a separate parish with its own chapel and two manors.
Much of the circular walks are around the former Wolversfield Manor. The main house, surrounded by a moat, stood where the farm buildings of Stokelodge Farm are now. The pond is all that remains of the moat which would have still been present when people came from the village once a month to attend services in a tiny chapel in 'Clerks Close'.
