A tiny hamlet to the east of Nithsdale sheltered by the Lowland hills.

The charming little church dates from 1699 and has fine effigies of the 2nd Duke of Queensberry, who died in 1711, and his wife, sculpted in black and white marble by the Flemish sculpture John Nost.
