URPoint Details
The road to the village is known as ‘destitution road’ for it was built as a relief scheme to assist crofters who were suffering dreadful hardship in 1847 during the potato famine.
The village lies at the head of Little Loch Broom in the beautiful lush valley of Strath Beg and above, the peaks of An Teallach stand at 3848ft. The name of this bleak mountain means ‘The Forge’ and refers to the smoke like fog which seems to permanently shroud its peak.
Situated to the northwest is the very grand An Teallach at 3500ft
