A stout tower, now in ruins was originally four storeys high and rebuilt in 1613.This was the birthplace of Mary Scot, the Flower of the Yarrow, who married the freebooter Auld Wat of Harden in 1576 – ancestors of Sir Walter Scott was proud to claim.
