Toilets car park shop and picnic area. Disabled parking about 150 yards from the abbey and access to the property is through the main gates. Surface to the abbey is flat and access can be gained without using steps. Most of the abbey is wheelchair accessible, apart from the cloisters.

Perhaps the most beautiful of all the Border Abbeys, the ruins of Dryburgh Abbey are remarkably complete.
Founded in 1150 and destroyed in 1544.
The ruins of the church include parts of the nave, choir, transepts and the west front with it fine 13th century doorway.
In the north transept is the lovely St Mary's aisle the burial place of Sir Walter Scott, his wife, son and son-in-law.

Nearby is the burial place of the Haigs of Bemersyde and Field Marshall Earl Haig.
