This lofty and lonely pass in the Grampians connects Glen Garry and Glen Truimm over which the main north road runs to Inverness.

The Sow of Atholl and the Boar of Badenoch rise up to the west at over 3,000ft.

In the Drumtocher Forest which lies on both sides of the northern end of the pass are Chaoruinn at 3,004ft to the east and Beinn Udlaman to 3,306 to the west.

The road through the pass was originally built by Wade in 1729, Bonnie Prince Charlie used it in 1745, and Thomas Telford redesigned the road in 1829.
