The square in the centre there some lovely little shops, an inn and the granite church.

To the west stands a New Stone Age tomb, Spinsters’ Rock, a 12ft slab supported by three others more than 6ft high, and thought to have been a tomb of a local chieftain and legend has it that also is associated with four spinster sisters, each trying to wed the same man.

Fingle Bridge dated from the 17th century and spans the River Teign noted for its salmon and trout at the foot of the gorge below the village.
