Once a market town that still retains its wide main street, lies in the Avon Valley and was a very important place in Anglo-Saxon times.
The church is cruciform in shape and dates from the 12th and 13th century. The central tower and glass are from a later period and the chancel is in a 14th century Decorated style.
Trafalgar House is an impressive Georgian brick and stone building and was given to Lord Nelson by his brother.
