This magnificent 14th century courtyard castle built for the regent Albany is one of Scotland's best preserved castles.
Its most striking feature is the combination of tower, gatehouse and hall with its kitchen in a massive frontal block.
The castle was later possessed by the Stuarts of Doune, Earls of Moray.
