URPoint Details
An unusually dark stone built town lying in the shadows of Cader Idris Mountains with many charms and quaint little streets.
It has two very unique tourist attractions with a Quakers Museum and through the Welsh Gold Shop you can take a trip underground and see the workings of the Gwynfynydd Gold Mine.
There are some interesting buildings including Rowlands Almshouses and the Grammar School founded in the 17th century.
The church rebuilt in the classical style retains its ancient tower.
