A time-car journey back 1,000 years to a bustling street in Jorvik “ Viking age York“ reconstructed on the site of extensive excavations beneath Coppergate in the heart of the city.
A wharf, house, and workshops, merchants and fisherfolk, have been recreated in accurate detail complete with sounds and smells evocative of the time.
Many of the magnificent objects found during excavations are on display in an exhibition at the centre.
