Diana, Princess of Wales (Diana Spencer) was born at Park House, Sandringham, in Norfolk, on 1 July 1961

She died after an horrific car accident in Paris and died in thet Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital, on the 31 August 1997 (aged 36)

Her brother the 9^th Earl Spencer insisted that she be buried on their estate at Althorp in Northamptonshire

The Royal Pioneer Corps from the former Simpson Barracks, which were located at Wootton in the south of the town, stood guard of honour on the day.
