When people say Dereham, it is to East Dereham that they refer.
A lovely little market town with a lovely broad High Street is the birthplace of the poet William Cowper who was born in 1731 and died in 1800.
The town has some fine buildings including the Assembly Rooms dated 1756, Corn Hall dated 1857 and the George Hotel and the King's Arms Hotel.
