URPoint Details
Situated in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, the village stands above the sparkling River Dee with some of the most beautiful of the fells, Barbon High Fell, Middleton Fell, Rise Hill and Whernside at 2,414ft the highest point in the park.
The narrow streets have cobbles stretching from one side of the road to the other, right up to the doorsteps of the houses.
The grey-stone cottages nestle together under thick-slab roofs built to keep out the ferocious winds and wild weather.
There are also some colour-washed cottages with bright doors and window frames.
