Salisbury Hall is not open to the public, but is a beautiful moated manor-house, once the home of Sir Nigel Gresley, the great locomotive engineer.
Wheelchair access to all the main display buildings in the Museum and disabled toilet facilities. Open aircraft are accessible only via stairs.
However, the real attraction is attraction is this fabulous collection of de Havilland aircraft -- ranging from four DH98 Mosquitos in various states, DH82 Tiger Moths, and a replica DH88 Comet racer from the early 1930s. This is the oldest museum in in Britain dedicated to the de Havilland Mosquito and, in fact, it was where the Mosquito was developed and its prototype constructed in the early days of World War Two..
The prototype for this famous all-wood frame and plywood-shelled Second World War fighter-bomber was designed and built here at Salisbury Hall -- and formed the museum's first exhibit. Other memorabilia relating to the de Havilland heritage is also housed here.
