A specialist garden of the Royal Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh, which contains an historic arboretum with landscaped walks, mature trees including the unique Dawyck Beech.
There are also many varieties of flowering trees, shrubs and herbaceous plants. Visitors can explore Herod Wood and the world's first cryptogamic (cryptogam - a plant that does not produce and seeds) sanctuary and a reserve to see non-flowering plants. Other notable features include the Swiss Bridge, and stonework and terracing produced by Italian craftsmen in the 1820s.
