In a wooded setting the Clyde flows to the north and nearby is a house known as Shuttle Row where David Livingstone was born in 1813.
He discovered Lake Ngamia in 1849 and the Zambezi River in 1851. It was on the Nile that he met journalist Henry Stanley who spoke the often-quoted line ‘Dr Livingstone I presume’.
