To the north off the Galashiels road is the entrance to the lonely valley of the Allan Water and among the hills are the ruins of three Border peel towers of Glendearg, Colmslie and Langshaw.
To the southeast rise the triple peaks of the Eildon hills and to the south lies the attractive wooded ‘Rhymer’s Glen’.
