The stone castle consists of a gate tower, curtain walls and two corner towers dating from the 1280s. This elegant house within the curtain walls of the old castle was built in 1722 for Joseph Damer who was granted the town and the lordship of Roscrea. There is a magnificent carved pine staircase and another of its interesting features is the scroll pedimented doorway.
