An attractive village by the River Caldew, which surrounds the green and a restored church rebuilt in 1750. There are many fine walks through fields and woods.
Dalston Hall is 15th to 17th century with a fine old tower.
To the south is Rose Castle, the ancient home of the Bishops of Carlisle.
