URPoint Details
General Wade had a base here which later became an inn, and it was here that Prince Charles Edward stayed in 1745.
To the northwest in a lonely setting of hills is the Wade Stone an 8ft high pillar with the date of 1729 carved on it.
Wade was a man of great stature and is said to have placed a coin on the pillar and to have found it still there when revisiting the site a year later.
The rough track dates from 1730 and traverses the hills from Trinafour to join the highway through Glen Garry to Inverness.
