A small colliery with a nearby moot or mote hill once the seat of an ancient council.
To the west is Bogton Loch with the Dalcairnie Linn waterfall and threaded by the River Doon which has its source from Loch Doon to the south.
This loch lies in the shadow of the Rhinns of Kells dominated by Corserine rising to 2,668ft and Carlins Cairn rising to 2,650ft.
