Probably the earliest stone castle authenticated in Scotland, built around 1145 by Norseman Kolbien Hruga. It consists of a small rectangular tower enclosed in a circular ditch.
Nearby are the ruin of St Mary’s Chapel, late 12th century in the Romanesque style.
