A resort with two miles of good safe and firm sands and to the east stand the ruins of Slains Castle built in 1664 by the Earl of Errol, Great Constable of Scotland.
Bishop’s Bridge across the Cruden Water is dated 1697.
The coast line has curious and interesting features including caves, pierced rocks, cliff top ‘chimneys’.
