The Shaven Crown Hotel was originally a 14th century hospice to Bruern Abbey and is beautifully situated in the heart of the Cotswolds.
Built of local honey coloured stone around a central medieval courtyard garden, it has the mellowed charm of 600 years hospitality.
The hotel offers an intimate candlelit restaurant serving fresh food daily. The bar with log fire serves an imaginative array of bar food lunchtime and evening, every day of the week (why not try the Scotch Beef, Mushroom & Pastry). In fine weather, the courtyard and garden are used for alfresco meals.
The Shaven Crown is family owned and the family are actively engaged in its daily running. The pride of the hotel, in addition to its original 14th century gateway, is the beautiful medieval baronial hall. This is the residents' lounge. Its double-collared braced roof is in perfect condition - 600 years later.
Well located in the Cotswolds, midway between Oxford and Stratford-upon-Avon, its perfect for visiting Cheltenham, Cirencester and Blenheim Palace.
The hotel has the use of two tennis courts and a bowling green. There is golf at Burford and Chipping Norton. Special rates apply for winter and bargain
