The Crown Hotel lies in the heart of Exmoor National Park at the picturesque village of Exford where, for countless generations, people have found restful comfort.
Today the Crown has seventeen en-suite bedrooms, a stylish bar where the local come to unwind, relaxing open fires and a fine restaurant which has been awarded two AA Rosettes for its excellent cuisine. Visitors can stroll around the hotel's soothing water garden, breathe in some pure Exmoor air and admire the magnificent landscape.
Built in the early 1600's in the style of an old long house, the back extension and top floor were added in later years. The original coaching inn on Exmoor providing a welcome half-way stop between Taunton and Barnstaple, it was initially known as the Rose and Crown but its name was shortened after the Civil War battle at nearby Sedgemoor in 1685.
It's a perfect starting place to explore this stunning part of the West Country on foot, bike or horseback. There's also private stabling, a tack room and paddock for guest's use.
