URPoint Details
This is a fascinating village standing in the beautiful Usk Valley. The town was originally a staging post and there are many signs of this with the Bear Hotel retaining its ‘Post Horses’ archway and cobbles.
The most outstanding feature of the little town is the long bridge across the River Usk. It seems to have 13 spans from the eastern end, but only 12 are visible from the west.
The ruins of a Norman castle and steep grassy mound can be found in the lovely park.
St Edmunds church is a 14th century building with a tall needle like steeple and has a fine interior.
