A charming little town in western Perthshire in Breadalbane country on the Fillan Water with facilities for fishing and mountain climbing on Ben More, Ben Lui or Stobinian with Strath Fillan, Glen Dochart and Glen Falloch in some of the most beautiful scenery in the Highlands.

To the southeast the road travels through Glen Falloch to Ardlui at the head of Loch Lomond is very picturesque.

In Glen Dochart the Dochart River flows through Loch Dochart and Loch Iubhair backed by twin peaks of Ben More at 3,843ft and Stobinian at 3,831ft and to the west rises Cruach Ardran at 3,428ft.

To the northwest in Strath Fillan east of the Fillan Water are the remains of St Fillan’s Chapel dating from 1314 and dedicated by Bruce as a thanks offering for the victory of Bannockburn.
The bell is now preserved in the National Museum of Antiquities in Edinburgh.
