This fascinating trail has been devised to link with some of the treasures to be discovered in the attractive landscape on the borders of Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and South Yorkshire.
Starting at the Medan Trail car park on Outgang Lane, the route heads for 13 miles/ 20km finishing at Whitwell.
Hidden heritage abounds, taking the visitor back in time from recent industrial history through thousands of years, to the New Stone Age and beyond.
The trail includes visible evidence of human activity, ranging from the stone age shelters to the coal mines and steam railways of the 19th century.
Opportunity for a circuit walk are offered by using Whitwell Churches, Whitwell Village Loop and Markland Loops.
The route uses public footpaths which guide the visitor through some of the area's most attractive countryside, landscapes which have been shaped by thousands of years of human activity.
