URPoint Details
St Mary Magdalene's Church, is a spectacularly large building containing a Chancel and Nave, built by the Duke of Portland in 1900.
The outstanding features are the high altar and Reredos of carved oak. The unusual circular window above the altar is in memory of the 1950 Creswell Colliery disaster and is well worth seeing. The side aisles were added in 1913 and the tower in 1927. The altar is dedicated to those who lost their lives in the Second World War. Easy access to both the West door entrance where there is a ramp, and the east door entrance which does not have any steps.
