Creeksea - Church of All Saints

Creeksea - Church of All Saints

Ferry Rd, Creeksea CM0 8PQ

URPoint Details

Creeksea The Parish of All Saints, was founded by Canons of Augustine Order in 1104. Originally a chapel adjoining the Manor of Creeksea, a church-way still exists through the farm buildings, and at one time was used by the Rector and parishioners from Ostend. In the late 19th century, the church was in need of major repairs, and a restoration fund was begun. The repairs were completed in 1906 and the church was re-opened on the 16th September, the service being conducted by the Rev Herbert Brown, Rector of St Lawrence. The principal evidences of the early church in the modern structure are the square stone bowl of the font and fragments of chevron mouldings built into the walls. The south porch and doorway incorporates several features of the 14th century building. All Saints Church is set amid the pleasant hamlet of Creeksea, which can be reached via footpath from Burnham, some 2m to the east.
