URPoint Details
The village with its romantic Crayke Castle is mainly brick-built, but there a couple are roughcast and another half-timbered, unusual for this part of Yorkshire. Cobblestone paving in a small lane leading off the main street adds character to Crayke.
The 15th century Church of St Cuthbert has a preserved Anglo-Saxon cross and some fine Jacobean pews and the pulpit dates from 1637.
The Castle built in the 15th century on the site of an earlier Norman castle. This battlemented house sits at the highest point in the village and has fine view across to York Minster.
