URPoint Details
On the bank of the mighty Clyde is Crawford Castle which has stood guardian since the 13th century, when it belonged to the Lindsay’s who were a powerful Border family.
It was restored in the 17th century when it passed to the Douglas family.
In the main street is a curious stone pillar, which was actually meant to be a tombstone for the Cranston family who ran the last mail coach in the area.
