A picturesque village with thatched and colour-washed cottages clustering around a tiny square, named after St Carantoc who founded an oratory here in the 5th century.
The Church of St Carantoc is mainly Norman had a central tower, now sits at the west end. The Domesday Book (1086) recorded Crantock as held by the Canons of St Carantoc's; they had already been in possession before 1066. The white walled interior has an attractive brown roof and screen, 14th century chancel and a Norman font.
