To the southeast, beyond Vachery Pond, is the restored Elizabethan house of Baynards Park.
The church is a fine example of 14th century work, retaining the Norman nave pillars, one of which displays a curious cat’s head and is believed to have the ‘Cheshire Cat’ in Alice in Wonderland.
