The castle was built between 1607 and 1607 and is still owned by the original family, and few changes have been made to the exterior.
The main exterior feature is a sculpted balcony unique in Scottish architecture and depicts a piper, two grinning knights, and David and Goliath.
The interior decoration dates mainly from the early 19th century, and has some remarkable wood panels and an interesting library.
