Coventry Cathedral

Consecrated on the 25^th May 1962, the new cathedral stands by the ruins of the bombed St Michael’s to symbolise death and regeneration.

It was designed by Sir Basil Spence and is a magnificent example of contemporary architecture.

John Piper’s Baptistry window, John Hutton’s engraved glass screen and Epstein’s statue of St Michael and the Devil all complement Graham Sutherland’s avant-garde tapestry which is thought to be the largest in the world.
